This sura is either Makkan or Madinan and has 8 ayats.
1. When the earth is convulsed with its quaking when the Last Hour comes, as is proper owing to its immensity,
2. …and the earth then disgorges its charges – casts up its treasures and dead onto its surface,
3. …and man – meaning those who deny the Resurrection – asks, ‘What is wrong with it?’ – such a person will not recognise its state,
4. on that Day it will impart all its news – all the good and evil that was done on it –
5. …because your Lord has inspired it. The reason that it will do this is that Allah has commanded it to. In a ˛adıth we find: “It will testify against every slave, male and female, to all that they did while on its surface.”
6. That Day people will emerge segregated from the place of Standing to see the results of their actions. Some will go to the right to the Garden and some to the left to the Fire, so that they may see the repayment of their actions in the Garden or the Fire.
7. Whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it.
8. Whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it. The word “dharra” means a tiny ant. Everyone will see the repayment for their actions.
